For the past few years, our shelter has been trying to enter the world of social media in a contemporary way. Our President, Steve Cecchettini, has charged our Board to make this happen. We believe that it will be easier for our future supporters to keep track of our animals and our events if we launch a new website with fun stories of our animals as well as the special work we do with the injured ones entrusted to our care. In this way, we can keep our supporters up-to-date on our activities. For many years our social media was managed by Board Members and volunteers and they deserve a very special thank you for the time and money they spent to keep our website updated. Dave Lester, our previous President, Board Member and a true advocate of our shelter, deserves more thanks than we can give. He single handedly managed all social media at a time where the tools available were not easy to use. He did this without charge and only for the love of our animals. Thank you, Dave, thank you.
Additionally, one of the shelter’s special events each year is Lights of Remembrance, to honor all of our special pets who have passed away. This event began in memory of Emily M. Ross a long-time volunteer and supporter of our shelter who passed away too early. We hold this event each year on December 6th, the day of her birthday. In honor of Emily and the pets we have lost, we hold a special candle light vigil to honor them and smile about the joy and happiness they brought to our lives. We had a separate website only for this event. Bill and Sue Hahn paid for the costs to maintain this site for many years – without requesting repayment. They also did this for the love of our animals and their true support of what our shelter represents. Thank you, thank you Bill and Sue!
Going forward, Lights of Remembrance supporters can donate and participate within our new website. Many thanks to those who support this annual event. It is truly the most special day in our shelter!
